The banjo that won't die

I received this banjo from a good friend Ted Ibbotson.
Ted's house was the first house where I ever jammed with other people.
I still remember the first night there:
The house was an old farm house in the hills of Wooler, Ontario, Canada.
The out side of the house was covered with pine slabs.
With an old tractor and its attachments resting in the tall grass.
There was an old barn to the left,
with a stock car parked outside waiting for Saturday night at the Speedway.
As you walked in you could see antiques of every kind on the walls.
Old license plates hung on the back wall, just behind the old wood stove.
The license plates ranged from the start of license plates to the present.
Just under the plates sat the oldest "Indian" motorcycle I have ever seen.
There was a good kitchen party going on.
As I looked in there was a large circle of guy’s playing guitars and singing just by the wood stove. At that time I had never played guitar with a group of people.
So in my sober state, there was no way I would venture into that circle.
I was there with my then girlfriend and other friends.
So we partied and drank, listened to music.
You know had a good time.
Later on courage suddenly came over me.
They started playing "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Then I saw a GIBSON SG in the corner of the room, NOT BEING USED.
So asked to join in, and away we went.
We went on & on playing. I also remember playing "Down by the River" By Neil Young, and I still can't shake that song.
That has got to be by far the greatest musical moment of my life.
The guy's names were: Jason "Ace" Garrison, Ted Ibbotson, Jerry Kimberly & Eric Seafeld and maybe some other guy's I don't remember. I think the SG Belonged to Devon ?
The funny thing is, I've played there numerous times over the years since.
I have yet to ever see any guitar the caliber of an SG at the house, let alone not being used.
Well anyway!
As for the banjo.
Ted found the banjo in a junkyard years ago.
Not only did it work, It was in it's case with a learning book and a extra pack of strings.
One day Ted lended it to me to use.
Which he later ended up giving it to me.
I have used it on both my Cd's "Be Aware Of The Afraid.." and soon to come out "Where The Wind Witch Resides" (- Summer 2005)
Which were both recorded while living in Picton, Ontario, Canada.
Well after Picton I moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I lived in Toronto for a few months, then had to come back for a couple of weeks for some gig's down Picton way.
So my sister picked me up in Toronto, and we headed back to Picton to drop off all of my equipment at the old house.
Then my now girlfriend & I drove back to Toronto, since I didn't have a gig for about a week.
Well 2 day's later I received a phone call, informing me the house had burnt down.
I had lost all of my equipment.
When I got back to Picton to look at all of the damage,
nothing really made it besides some small stuff.
But once again the banjo had made it through an other sketchy situation.
The banjo had not even been damage by smoke.
Not a scratch, burn, warp not even out of tune.
Thanks Ted, this thing just doesn't want to die.

Looking For A Drummer
It's time to move to the next step.
I've been playing solo now for 4 years as a solo giging act.
Jeremy Cooper and I have been playing since I moved to Toronto in Nov. 2004.
Jeremy plays bass & guitar and also right lyrics as well.
We are now ready to start something new.
Were looking for a drummer in the Toronto area to start a band and get gigging by early summer.
If your serious or know of anybody who would be interested.
Go to my contact icon and drop me a line, and will see where this will take us.

Hey Everyone
Just want to inform everyone that the house I was living in for the past 3 years where I wrote most of my material and recorded my first cd "Be Aware Of The Afraid... And shared many good nights with friends and strangers jamming and partying, caught on fire and is now un livable.
unfortunately I lost all my music equipment, except my favorite guitar "Beloved".
It's a good thing were inseparable.
The good thing was nobody was hurt.
I will miss the white house on the mountain.
The house was located at 392 County Rd.#7
in Picton Ontario, Canada.
Here are some Pictures taken by my sister Kelly Taylor.
My Guitar "Hope" shown on the cover of "Be Aware Of The Afraid..."
You have to get humor out of the worst things.
If you read what it said on the guitar before it burnt it said.
"Be aware of the afraid, They might BURN your hope"

Moving to Toronto
Hello Friends
I'm moving to Toronto on Saturday October 30 to start a new page.
I will be playing more frequently than I am now.
Living here in Picton Ontario without a car has limited my giging capabilities to 2 gigs a week if I'm lucky. (Also only limited to the surrounding area)
So I'm looking forward to playing in the city and hope to find my way into a band.
I want to thank everyone in the Prince Edward County, the Quinte area and all of you who were just passing through for all the support. Starting from the first stage I hit at open mic at "Carneys" in 2000, hosted by Pat Clarke in Trenton Ontario, and my last gig was at "Alley Cat's" October 16 2004 251 Main St. Picton.
"Unfortunately I have to move on,
to keep growing this tree,
if I let it wither, in still weather
I'll never live my dream."
Again thank you for all the support, which keeps this pipe dream alive. But like anything in life to keep it moving you must take another step.
Keep your eye's and ears open.
I'm releasing my new Cd "Where the Wind Witch Resides" in January 2005.
Hope to see you soon.
